After the kids are in bed....

Where do I even start?  My laundry list of things to do after I put my boys to sleep seems to get longer every week.  I would love to say that my house is always perfectly clean and organized so that Ben and I can just relax together but that is certainly not the case.  Ben works full time with Fridge Coaster and I work full time in HR at Nordstrom by day, full time mommy by night and weekend and part time Fridge Coaster "creative director"; seeing as how I'm married to the CEO I can give myself that fancy title ;) We are fortunate enough to be very busy with packaging orders and vendor agreements (remember the 2011 recap I did last month?  I will be elaborating more on that soon).

Normally our nightly routine begins around 7:45 after our two maniacs are in bed but lately Beck thinks that he is too big to go to sleep at a normal hour.  While at times I do find his antics very comical, I wish he would get back into his normal bedtime routine.  As of late this is what I hear coming from his room after the lights are out, "mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy......mom? Moooooooommmmmm!!! Mommy, come here now!"  I wonder what happened to my sweet boy who was such a good listener and appreciated his bed time routine and then I remembered, oh ya, he's 2 :/.  So this is what our night looks like after the kids are in bed....

  • It usually starts off with cleaning the kitchen and family room.  Becketts toy baskets explode all over the house everyday and the kitchen is the hub of the house so it turns into the catch all.
  • This is followed by vacuuming the first floor.  Dog hair, gold fish crumbs and dirt tracked all around.... gross
  • Then its time to fold laundry and get that put away.
  • After this is done we are back in the office packaging more orders, responding to emails, updating the blog or getting sucked into Pinterest.
  • If its Tuesday I turn on "New Girl" @ 9 (my new favorite show) and if it's Wednesday we are watching "Modern Family" and "Happy Endings".  Other than these shows our t.v. doesn't get a lot of action.
  • We set a 10pm bedtime for ourselves but that maybe happens twice a month.
  • Then 6am rolls around and we're go, go, go again.
It's a busy and rewarding life and I wouldn't trade it for anything! Here's to all the busy moms in the world!

Weekend project: an organized pantry

We cleaned out our pantry this weekend and that was quite the project.  You know how you buy stuff because its on sale or because you have a coupon but know deep down inside that you will probably never use it.  Well, apparently we had a lot of that going on.  We took every single item out of our pantry and lined our shelves with? You guessed it, Fridge Coasters.  The oversized bin and crisper size fits perfectly on the wire racks of your pantry.  Now my canned goods don't fall over and my racks won't be sticky anymore from honey and syrup drips.  We alternated pink zig zag and polka dot to cheer up our pantry.

After: ta-daaaa

To give you an idea of what you need to do this to your pantry; our wire racks are 12" deep and we used 6 large bin packs.  Half the cost of plexi glass, it won't scratch and its way more fun.

Its a GREEN thing

I love decorating with the color green and if you've seen the latest issue of House Beautiful, then you know "its the neutral that goes with everything!" How far are you willing to take this color trend?  Would you redo your kitchen in kelly green, olive or pistachio?  Our kitchen walls are a minty green  and I love my pistachio KitchenAid but these images taking the meaning "living green" to the next level.

Kitchen of the Week

How fantastic is this backsplash? This one definitely got pinned onto "in my next house" board.  The great news is we have a Fridge Coaster print with this same beautiful shape.  So if you are lucky enough to have an amazing backsplash like this; don't worry, we have a Fridge Coaster to match!

Other uses for Fridge Coasters

Who doesn't love a multi-tasker?  We do!  In addition to lining your refrigerator, Fridge Coasters are great in other areas of the house too.  Check out these uses.......

Underneath the kitchen sink.  Absorbs soap drips and other liquids
Love this one; put Fridge Coasters in the laundry room under your detergent!
Add Fridge Coasters to the wire racks in your pantry = no more groceries tipping over
They absorb sticky messes from syrup or honey drips; genius!!

6 more weeks of winter?

I have a hard time believing that there will be 6 more weeks of winter considering it was 70 degrees today.  I already have spring fever.  Our crocus' are blooming and our daffodils are starting to sprout.  I can't wait to fill my home with fresh cut flowers from the garden.  One day I hope to have a yard that looks like one of these beautiful images.............
